Veterinary diagnostic imaging creates composites of the internal body that are used to discover disease or injury.
Natick Animal Clinic uses state-of-the-art digital radiography in-house, which enables the doctors to send images to specialists for consultation when necessary. Images captured with digital radiography can be transferred to a CD or flash drive, or they can be sent as an attachment through email. This diagnostic tool is available to our patients every day. We take great care to make sure your pet is comfortable while the imaging is performed. When needed, radiography can help us determine the best possible treatment plan.
Ultrasounds are non-invasive and may be used for diagnostic workup when recommended by your pet’s veterinarian. Ultrasound images are created based on sound waves bouncing off differing tissue densities. It is most commonly used in veterinary medicine in areas like the abdomen, chest or heart. Should your pet’s veterinarian recommend ultrasonography, we will schedule your appointment with our traveling board-certified specialist, who performs ultrasounds on-site.

Some specialized procedures may require anesthesia. Orthopedic radiographs and contrast studies require the patient to remain completely still in order for them to work correctly, necessitating sedation in most cases. The duration of sedation is usually short, and patient recovery is swift.
